1 On the Start menu, select Setup, Network and Dial-up connection.
2 Select the Local Area Connection icon.
3 Click Properties.
4 Ensure that the network adapter name is displayed.
4.2.2 Checking the TCP/IP settings
The TCP/IP settings must be correct.
Note: If the IP address of your network adapter is set to 0.0.0.0. or 169.254.X.X
Windows 95/98/ME
1 On the Start menu, select Run.

2 In the Open field, enter winipcfg.
3 Click OK. The IP Configuration dialog box is displayed.
