uuChild SafetyuProtecting Child Passengers
• Never hold a child on your lap because it is impossible to protect them in the
event of a collision.
• Never put a seat belt over yourself and a child. During a crash, the belt would
likely press deep into the child and cause serious or fatal injuries.
• Any child who is too small to wear a seat belt must be properly restrained in an
approved child restraint system that is properly secured to the vehicle using the
seat belt or the child restraint anchorage system.
• Never let two children use the same seat belt. Both children could be very
seriously injured in a crash.

1Protecting Child Passengers
In many countries, the law requires all children aged
12 and under, and whose height are shorter than
150 cm be properly restrained in a rear seat.
In many countries, it is required to use an officially
approved and suitable child restraint system for
transporting a child on any passenger seat. Check
your local legal requirement.
Child restraint systems must meet UN Regulation
No. 44 or the regulations of the subject countries.
