INSTALLATION

When Installing this Product...
1. Read these instructions carefully. Failure to follow
the instructions can damage the product or cause a
hazardous condition.
2. Check the ratings given in the instructions and on
the product to make sure the product is suitable for
your application.
3. Make sure the installer is a trained, experienced
service technician.
4. After completing the installation, use these instruc­
tions to check out the product operation.
Location
Locate the thermostat about 5 ft (1.5m) above the floor in
an area with good air circulation at average temperature.
Do not mount the thermostat where it can be affected by:
drafts or dead spots behind doors and in corners.
hot or cold air ducts.
concealed pipes and chimneys.
unheated (uncooled) areas such as an outside wall
behind the thermostat.
Mount Thermostat Mounting Plate (Fig.1)
1. Position the mounting plate on the wall. Use a
spirit level to make sure the mounting plate is level.
2. Use a pencil to mark the two mounting holes then
remove the mounting plate from the wall.
3. If installing the thermostat on a drywall surface, drill
3/16 in. holes in the wall as marked. If installing the
thermostat on a firmer material, such as plaster or
wood, drill 7/32 in. holes.
4. Insert the screw anchors (provided) and gently tap
the anchors into the holes until flush with the wall.
5. Reposition the mounting plate over the holes,
carefully pulling the thermostat wires through the
wiring opening (if this is a replacement application).
6. Loosely insert two mounting screws into the
mounting plate holes, and then tighten.
7. Check that the mounting plate remains level.

Wiring
A CAUTION
Equipment Damage Hazard.
Disconnect the power supply before wiring.
All wiring must comply with all applicable electrical
codes, ordinances, and regulations. Follow the instruc­
tions provided with the controlled equipment.
If this is a new installation, run the required number of
wires to the thermostat location. Refer to Fig. 3 and 4 for
typical wiring diagrams.
1. Loosen the terminal screws on the back of the
thermostat and slip each wire beneath its matching
terminal. See Fig. 2 for wiring insertion technique.
2. Tighten the terminals securely.
3. Plug the hole in the wall with insulation to help
prevent drafts from adversely affecting thermostat
operation.
