APPLICATION
These programmable load management thermostats
provide energy savings for heating and cooling applica
tions. The thermostats allow separate program settings
for weekdays and Saturday and Sunday. In addition,
these thermostats allow homeowners to participate in
special programs offered by public utilities such as Time-
of-Use Pricing and Direct Load Control. For these
programs an on-board communications module allows
the utility to send signals to the thermostat.
The T7512A is for use in conventional heating/cooling
applications. It is powered through the existing system
contactor (using power-stealing technology). The
T7512B is for use in heat pump applications (two-stage
heating) and is powered by R and C wires from the
system transformer. See Table 1.
NOTE:
The T7512A is compatible only with 60 Hz
systems.
Voltage:
24 Vac nominal.
Current:
Up to 1.0A, each circuit.

Operating Humidity Range:
5% RH to 95% RH; noncondensing.
Operating Ambient Temperature:
40°F to 110°F (4°C to 43°C).
A delay on make compressor protection device is not
required in systems controlled by this thermostat. If the
device is connected to the system compressor, it should
be removed. Because the device interferes with the utility
commanded cycling (Direct Load Control) and the
SuperStat™ Thermostat provides a minimum of five
minutes compressor off-time.
The power stealing model (T7512A) requires a contactor
in the cooling equipment that draws 8 VA or more (some
equipment does not meet this requirement). If the power
draw into the equipment cooling terminal Y is less than 8
VA, the thermostat may not operate properly and the
following can occur:
Cooling contactor continuously on.
Contactor chatters.
Cooling contactor does not operate from the
thermostat.
Thermostat resets continuously.
To provide the required draw to the equipment, connect a
DP2030A contactor coil between the C and Y terminals.
