5.3 SIMATIC Drive Controller functions
SINAMICS Integrated safety functionality
SINAMICS Integrated of the SIMATIC Drive Controller supports the same Safety Integrated
functions as SINAMICS S120 CU320-2:
• Safety Integrated Basic Functions
• Safety Integrated Extended Functions
• Safety Integrated Advanced Functions
One license is required for each axis to be operated with Safety Integrated
Extended/Advanced Functions. You can find more information in Runtime licensing
(Page 278).
The safety functions correspond to the functions pursuant to EN 61800-5-2 (if and to the
extent that they are defined therein).
The maximum achievable safety class of the SINAMICS Integrated safety functions is SIL 2
according to IEC 61508 or PL d according to ISO 13849-1.
SIMATIC Safe Kinematics
The movement of predefined Kinematics with up to 12 interpolating axes in a multi-
dimensional space can be securely monitored with SIMATIC Safe Kinematics. The following
monitoring functions are available for this purpose:
• Safe velocity monitoring
• Safe zone monitoring
• Safe orientation monitoring
SIMATIC Safe Kinematics is a TIA Portal option package and is post-installed as Setup in TIA
Portal.
Hardware requirements:
SIMATIC Drive Controller CPU 1507D TF from firmware version V2.9 onwards
Engineering requirements:
• SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional V17 or higher
• STEP 7 Safety Advanced from V17 or higher
Runtime requirements:
• SINAMICS Safety Integrated Advanced Functions for every monitored axis: from firmware
V5.2 onwards (SINAMICS Integrated); from firmware V5.1 onwards (for connected Control
Units).
• SIMATIC Safe Kinematics from V17 onwards
Safe Kinematics protects the machine operator by providing functionally safe monitoring of
the movement of multi-axis kinematics equipment, for example:
• Industrial robots
• Handling systems for production machines and machine tools
• Cranes
With SIMATIC Safe Kinematics, you can program safe monitoring functions for kinematics in
the framework of SIMATIC Safety Integrated. You can program the user-defined, fail-safe
reactions when monitored limits are violated depending on the application, for example, a
safe stop reaction.
