Recording
Thanks to its integrated hard disk, your set-top box offers you all the advantages of a
PVR device (Personal Video Recorder):

If you are operating a stereo system, video recorder or comparable device on your
set-top box, you can of course still record the received programmes as usual (see
"Recording to DVD or Video Cassette" on page 59 or "Recording Radio Programmes"
on page 45).

Recording Types

u
Spontaneous recording: You decide spontaneously to record the current pro-
gramme. Start the recording with the
u
Programmed Recording: You want to have an upcoming programme recorded
automatically and want to programme the time and duration of the required record-
ing. You have the following options:
– EPG recording: Choose a programme you would like to record from the elec-
tronic programme guide. Use the
programme.
– Timer recording: You would like to record a channel's programme at a specific
time. Even if there is no data available as yet for this date in the EPG, you can still
programme this recording. To do this, enter a new timer in the TV > Timer menu.

Prerequisites for Starting a Recording

You can only start recordings if the following requirements are fulfilled:
u
The internal hard disk has sufficient free storage space (see "HDD information" on
page 77). Depending on the quality of the data received, you should assume an
average storage requirement of approx. 2 Gigabytes per hour recording time for tel-
evision recordings.
u
Programmed recordings must not overlap. If programmed recordings (incl. lead-in
time and add-on time) overlap, the second recording can only be started when you
terminate the first recording.
