Replacement procedure
1. Pull out the fan case assembly.
(Refer to step 1 in Section 3-4-2.)
2. Remove the backup batteries.
There are two different types of battery holder depend-
ing on the manufacturing time. The method of remov-
ing the battery is different in each type. Remove the
batteries in the method for each type as shown in Fig.
1 and Fig. 2.
In the case of type 1 (Fig. 1)
Remove the backup batteries from BT100 and BT101 on
the CN-3058 board by pushing up them as shown in Fig.1.
In the case of type 2 (Fig. 2)
Insert the insulated stick into the battery holder of BT100
and BT101 on the CN-3058 board as shown in the fi gure to
raise the battery, then remove it in the direction of the
arrow.
3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
n
(1) Attach the battery so that the positive terminal faces
up.
(2) Be careful in using a tool. Because the use of metal
tool (such as screwdriver) may cause a short circuit
problem.
(3) Two fan case assemblies are installed in this unit. The
backup batteries of these fan case assemblies can be
replaced in the same procedure.
(4) Do not pull out the two fan case assemblies at a time
because the data such as system data and HDD infor-
mation data in this unit are saved by the backup bat-
tery.
(5) In case that the batteries are not attached or the battery
voltage is extremely low, the voltage monitoring
cannot be performed normally. When the voltage moni-
toring alarm of this unit occurs, immediately replace
all four batteries.
n
The SSP-27B board also has the lithium battery for backup.
It is not required to replace the battery even if it is running
low. However, when repairing the SSP-27B board, replace
the battery. For the replacement procedure, contact your
local Sony Sales Offi ce/Service Center.
