EXtra Device Port (XDP)
in the system by allowing an extension jack to contain two
telephones. A digital proprietary telephone (DPT) and a standard
telephone can be connected to the same jack but have different
extension numbers so that they can act as completely different
extensions.
• XDP requires previous programming of the individual jack. Enable
XDP mode for the desired jack by System Programming. Immediately
after changing the assignment, the changed setting may not work for a
maximum of eight seconds.
• If an analog proprietary telephone (APT) and a standard telephone are
connected to an XDP-enabled jack, neither telephone will work.
• If XDP is disabled for the jack, DPT and a standard telephone may be
used as Paralleled Telephones. APT and a standard telephone also can
be used as Paralleled Telephones.
