Battery

Service Interval/Specification
Check the electrolyte level in the battery before each
use. Always keep the battery clean and fully charged.
Use a paper towel to clean the battery case. If the
battery terminals are corroded, clean them with a
solution of four parts water and one part baking soda.
Apply a light coating of grease to the battery
terminals to prevent corrosion.
Voltage: 12 v, 240 Cold Cranking Amps
Removing the Battery
1.
Disengage the power take off (PTO), set the
parking brake, and turn the ignition key to
"OFF" to stop the engine. Remove the key.

Open the hood to see the battery.
3.
Remove side panels for clearance when
removing battery (Fig. 37). Remove the wing
nuts and screws and lift up to clear pin and slide
panel tabs out from steering tower.
4.
Disconnect the negative (black) ground cable
from the battery post (Fig. 36).
5.
Lift the rubber cover up on the positive (red)
cable. Disconnect the positive (red) cable from
the battery post (Fig. 36).
6.
Remove the battery hold down rods (Fig. 36).

Installing the Battery
7.
Install the battery into the chassis (Fig. 37).
8.
Secure battery in chassis with hold down rods.
9.
Using the bolt and wing nut, connect the positive
(red) cable to the positive (+) battery post
(Fig. 36). Slide the rubber cover over the battery
post.
10. Using the bolt and wing nut, connect the
negative (black) cable to the negative (–) battery
post (Fig. 36).
11. Install side panels by sliding tabs into steering
tower and inserting pin into flange of footrest.
Secure with screws and wing nuts (Fig. 37).
