Alarm Categories

The category of the alarm denotes the component type that raised the alarm or the
type of service affected by the alarm. Every alarm falls into one of the following
categories and this is clearly stated under each alarm description in this manual.

Alarm Severities

The severity indicates the impact on the system and gives you an idea of how
quickly the alarm should be dealt with. Every alarm that can be raised is assigned
one of the following severities (from lowest to highest) and this is clearly stated
under each alarm description in this manual.

Meaning
A communication failure between equipment.
An adverse effect on device performance or quality of service.
Software or processing failure.
A device or equipment failure.
An environmental condition (such as excessive temperature or
humidity) causing an adverse effect on equipment.
Meaning
Indicates errors that do not have an immediate impact on the
system but may do so if left unresolved.
Indicates errors pertaining to abnormalities in hardware or
software operation such as circuit or subscriber service errors,
immediate action is required although system operation is not
seriously hindered.
Indicates errors that seriously hinder normal system operation
or greatly affect the system services. Immediate action is
required.
