Replace-Configure PERC 3/DC RAID controller board

Section 1: Introduction
This job card describes the replacement and configuration of the PERC 3/DC RAID controller circuit
board in the Dell 1400 computer.
Note:
This procedure is necessary only when controller board is faulty.
Section 2: Items Required
u
The replacement FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) must be available: Dell PERC 3/DC Board
u
Philips screwdrivers (Nos. 1 and 2)
u
Anti-static guard grounding wrist strap
Section 3: Procedure
This procedure outlines the physical replacement of the PERC 3/DC circuit board in the Dell 1400
computer and the configuration of the new board from the system hard disk.
1. Power down the Dell 1400 computer.
2. Power down the Dell RAID unit by turning off both the power switches at the rear of the unit
3. Disconnect the two SCSI cables at the rear of the computer.
4. Open the Dell computer unit (per instructions in the Dell online documentation for the
PowerEdge1400), remove the faulty PERC 3/DC board and replace it with the new board.
