13-3-6 Digital Encoder
The digital converter processes YCbCr 4:4:4/4:2:2 which the blitter has generated from main
memory and produces a standard analog baseband PAL/SECAM/NTSC signal and component (YUV/RGB).
The digital encoder can handle interlaced mode in all standards. ITU-T 601 aspect ratio
displays are supported in all standards and square pixel displays in all standards except
when using SECAM mode. The digital encoder performs closed-caption, CGMS, WSS,
teletext and VPS encoding and allows Macrovision™ 7.01/ 6.1 copy protection.
Two integrated tri-DACs provide six analog TV outputs on which it is possible to output
either (S-VHS(Y/C) + CVBS + RGB) or (S-VHS(Y/C)+ CVBS + YUV) or (Y1 + C1 + CVBS1 +C2 + Y2 + CVBS2).
The encoder can operate in master mode or in one of several modes where it locks onto incoming sync signals.
