The Baxter HomeChoice sets contain a cassette and tubing that must remain undamaged to ensure safe and effective use. The manual warns that damaged sets can cause contamination, leading to peritonitis. If the sets are packed tightly in a suitcase without protection, they could develop cracks or other damage, which could compromise their safety. Therefore, traveling with them in a tightly packed suitcase could pose a risk. It is advisable to pack them securely to prevent damage.

Error 2042 on the Baxter HomeChoice APD System is a System Error. If it occurs before the user is connected, it should be treated as a Reload Set Alarm. Otherwise, it should be treated as a System Error. The user should follow the instructions in section 18.3.5, Load a New Set, on page 18-12.

What must I do if my PD machine is unable to connect to the network? Is there a way to bypass this step since it keeps me from going further?

Check the modem cable and ensure it is properly connected. Verify that the power cord is securely attached. Avoid placing the machine next to or stacked with other electrical equipment, as this may cause interference. If the issue persists, monitor the cycler for normal operation and contact your dialysis center for further assistance.

Why do I get slow flow patient alarms in the middle of my treatment? No problems draining or filling the whole night until drain/fill 4. No the lines aren’t kinked, no I dont have fibrin, no the bags aren’t disconnected. And it always happens on #4

Slow flow patient alarms during treatment with the Baxter HomeChoice system can occur due to a very slow flow rate. This may be caused by:

- A partial kink in the patient line
- Closed clamps
- Fibrin blockage
- Disconnected or empty solution bags

These issues reduce flow, affecting Dwell Time and overall dialysis effectiveness.

To bypass the Initial Drain on the Baxter HomeChoice:

1. Contact your dialysis center first to confirm it is safe to bypass.
2. Change your position or sit up to help drain completely before bypassing.
3. If fluid remains or IIPV (Increased Intraperitoneal Volume) is suspected, press STOP, then press the arrow (▲) and perform a Manual Drain.
4. To bypass:
- Press the arrow (▲) until "BYPASS" appears.
- Press ENTER to confirm bypass.

Note: When you bypass, the system assumes your abdomen is empty and delivers the full prescribed Fill Volume. Monitor for symptoms of IIPV.
