3.8 Serial Ports

The MV64560 provides two UART serial ports: port 0 is used for COM1 and port 1 is
used for COM2. Both ports support asynchronous differential operation (RS422) as
well as RS232, with the required operation being software configured through the
EPLD
for use as a debug port. Both ports are disabled at power-up.

For RS422 outputs, the non-inverting output of the differential pair is designated 'B'
and the inverting output is designated 'A'.

The ports use a single Intersil IS41334 transceiver and are capable of operation up to
400 kBaud in RS232 mode and up to 10 MBaud in RS422 mode (reducing to 8 MBaud
over temperature).
