About the Network Functions
You can connect the camcorder to a Wi-Fi network to use the following network functions.
Network functions and connection types
Network function
Control the camcorder remotely from the Web browser of a
Browser Remote
connected device.
Transfer clips recorded with the camcorder to another device
FTP File Transfer
connected to the network using the FTP protocol.

Connection to a Wi-Fi network via an external access point (wireless router, etc.)

Direct connection to one Wi-Fi-enabled device where the camcorder itself serves as the Wi-Fi access point.
Before using the network functions
• The instructions in this chapter assume you already have a correctly configured and working network, network
device(s) and/or Wi-Fi access point. If necessary, refer to the documentation provided with the network
devices you plan to use.
• Configuring the network settings requires adequate knowledge about configuring and using wireless (Wi-Fi)
networks. Canon cannot provide support regarding network configurations.
IMPORTANT
• Data transmitted over networks is not encrypted.
• Canon shall not be liable for any loss of data or damage resulting from incorrect network configuration or
settings. Additionally, Canon shall not be liable for any loss or damage caused by the use of network functions.
• Using an unprotected Wi-Fi network can expose your data to monitoring by unauthorized third parties. Be
aware of the risks involved.
NOTES NOTES
• About the Wi-Fi antenna: When using the camcorder's Wi-Fi
functions, do not cover the Wi-Fi antenna with your hand or
other object. Covering it may interfere with wireless signals.
• Do not lay cables connected to the HDMI OUT terminal near the
Wi-Fi antenna. Doing so may negatively affect the wireless
communication over Wi-Fi.
• Do not open the SD card compartment cover while using
network functions.
