Procedures
Disconnecting the
Spark-Plug Wire
Before performing any maintenance on the engine,
belts, or cutting blades, disconnect the spark-plug
wire from the spark plug
Maintenance Procedure
• Change the engine oil.
• Clean debris form the machine.
• Inspect the air-cleaner elements.
• Check the engine-oil level.
• Check the belt tension. If the engine is working but the cutting blades seem
underpowered, check the belt tension.
• Check the blades for wear or damage.
• Check for loose fasteners.
• Clean the air-cleaner elements. Clean them more frequently in dusty operating
conditions.
• Change the engine oil.
• Clean the sediment cup.
• Inspect, clean, and adjust the spark plug; replace it if necessary.
• Replace the spark plug.
• Replace the paper air-cleaner element. Replace it more frequently in dusty
operating conditions.
• Touch up chipped paint.
