9. Troubleshooting

Observed Issue
Sprinkler not rotating, or
rotating very slowly.
Sprinkler not rotating at all.
Sprinkler has poor stream
strength.
Arc increases during operation.
Valve opens/closes only with
manual opening, but not on any
electric signal.
Valve fails to open even with
manual opening.
Valve fails to close.
Output pressure at sprinkler
nozzle too low or radius
too short.

Cause
Sealing disc worn out.
Driving nozzle clogged.
Minimum pressure of 45 psi not
reached.
Nozzle is blocked / clogged.
Spring stop is loose.
Spring force has slackened.
Spring stop has been
overextended.
Manual control switch is set to
OFF.
Plunger is lodged in the solenoid.
No / inadequate power supply
Defective solenoid
Vent port for solenoid blocked.
Control hose to the solenoid
clogged or bent / kinked.
Control water vent or relief vent
blocked.
Supply line under no / insufficient
pressure
Solenoid seat dirty
Bits of dirt between valve seat and
sealing plate
Defective valve insert
Valve insert filter dirty
Control hose defect
Nozzle clogged.
Valve insert is blocked.
Remedy
Change sealing disc.
Unscrew driving nozzle and clean.
Increase pressure.
Unscrew nozzle, remove and clean.
Replace spring stop.
Turn manual control switch all the
way to the left to AUTO.
Remove solenoid and clean plunger.
Establish 24V AC power supply.
Check solenoid resistance.
(It should be approx. 35 ohms.)
Replace if necessary.
Clean vent port.
Replace control hose.
Clean control water / relief vent.
Establish pressure supply.
Clean solenoid seat.
Clean valve seat and sealing plate.
Remove valve. Replace or clean.
Clean valve insert filter.
Change control hose.
Clean nozzle and flush sprinkler.
Clean valve insert (see Section 8.3).
