How to read this manual

1. Removal and installation of assemblies
Special tools
q
The special tools necessary for the removal and
installation work are indicated by symbols as A1
••• X1 and their part Nos., part names, and quan-
tity are described in the table.
q
In the special tools table, the following informa-
tion is described, as well as the above items.
1. Necessity
t :Special tools that cannot be substituted and
should always be used (installed).
:Special tools that will be useful if available
q
and are substitutable with commercially
available tools.
2. Distinction of new and existing special tools
N : Tools newly developed for this model. They
respectively have a new part number.
R : Tools with upgraded part numbers. They are
remodeled from already available tools for other
models.
Blank: Tools already available for other models.
They can be used without any modification.
3. Circle mark Q in sketch column:
The sketch of the special tool is presented in
q
the section of "Sketches of special tools".
q
Part No. of special tools starting with
79*T-***-****: means that they are not avail-
able from Komatsu in Japan(i.e. must be
made locally).

The [Removal] section contains procedures and
precautions for implementing the work, know
how and the amount of oil or coolant to be
drained.

The common tools necessary for the removal

Except where otherwise instructed, installation
of parts is done in the reverse order of removal.

are shown with [*1] mark in the Installation Sec-
tion, identifying which step the instructions are
intended for.
