Maintenance

The electromagnet should be regularly cleaned to maintain its full holding power.
The safety functions and mechanism must be regularly tested, at least once a year, to check that

Do not attempt to repair the product as this can result in permanent damage, which impairs the safety of the unit,
which in turn, can lead to serious personal injuries.

Positioning and orientation of Eva.

This section concerns the Magne 4 only.
The integrated interlocking device Eden consists of two different units, Adam and Eva. The units must be
positioned correctly for the sensor to work as intended. Adam is built into the casing around Magne 4 and sits
between the electromagnet and the M12 connector. The figure below shows Eva correctly positioned above Magne
when the door is closed.
The Eva unit correctly positioned and oriented above the Adam unit that is built into Magne 4.
The safety application is based on the Eden sensor deciding if the guard is open or closed, which means it is very
important that the units are carefully positioned, and the safety functions tested.

Testing of safety functions

This section concerns the Magne 4 only. Similar tests should be performed when using an external safe
interlocking breaker together with Magne 3.
Check that the safety functions work by following these steps:

Magne must be installed as close to the door handle as possible. The distance between
the lock and the handle creates a lever effect, reducing the operating force necessary to
force the lock. The bigger the distance the greater the risk of the anchor plate not being
flush with the electromagnet, which significantly reduces the holding force.
The holding force of the lock can be significantly reduced if the anchor plate and cellular
rubber have no scope to move. Check that full alignment is always obtained.
It is important that Eva is correctly positioned in relation to the inbuilt Adam sensor (for
Magne 4). See section Positioning and orientation of Eva.
The anchor plate can suffer permanent damage if the tightening torque is greater than
9 Nm (7 ±2 Nm) on installation. The anchor plate is not to be used as the only door stop.
Additional door stops must be used to avoid damaging the Magne.
The installation tolerance in the inbuilt sensor can be reduced if Magne is installed directly
onto steel. A gap of 2.5 mm between the installation surface and Magne is recommended
to assure performance.
The M12 connector should be connected after Magne has been installed on the intended
surface.
All safety functions must be tested before the unit is commissioned.
