Configuring Compression Level Settings

You can configure the data compression that you want used on all incoming
data that is to be backed up and deduplicated by your DR4000 system.
NOTE:
This is a global compression level setting for your system. Once a
compression level setting change is made, the change affects only new incoming
data (it is written using the new setting). Any existing data on the system will not be
rewritten using the new compression level setting.
To configure the compression level setting on the Compression Level page,
select from the following choices:
Fast—this is the default, and when selected, system backups are
performed faster than if Best was selected. Using this setting results in a
corresponding reduction in storage space savings.
Best—when this level is selected, you gain the highest overall storage
space savings. Using this setting results in a longer execution time
during processing.
To configure the Compression Level setting for your system:
1 Select Storage Compression.
The Compression Level page is displayed.
2 To configure a Compression Level setting, click Edit on the options bar.
The Compression Level Settings dialog is displayed.
