5. Spark plug service.

Touching
a hot engine
or exhaust
system
can cause serious
burns.
Let the engine
cool before
performing
maintenance.
1 IMPORTANT NoT'CE 1 Spark
plugs
of the
wrong
heat
range
can cause
engine
damage.
For good performance,
the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of
deposits.
1. Open the engine
hood and remove
the spark plug cap.
2. Clean any dirt from around the spark plug base.
3. Use a spark plug wrench
to remove
the spark plug.
WRENCH
4. Visually
inspect
the spark plug. Discard it if there is apparent
wear or if
the insulator
is cracked
or chipped.
Clean the spark plug with
a wire
brush if it is to be reused.
5. Measure
the plug gap with a feeler gauge.
The
gap
should
be
1.0-l
.l
mm
(0.039-0.043
in).
Correct
as
necessary
by carefully
bending
the side electrode.
