MAINTAINING YOUR
PRINTER

VERVIEW
The SuperScript 1450 and 1450N printers are designed for
easy use and maintenance.This chapter explains basic
maintenance and cleaning procedures that must be followed
in order to maintain high print quality and efficient
operation. Included are instructions for the following
maintenance tasks:

Internal maintenance
•
Redistributing and replacing the Toner Cartridge
•
Cleaning the printer
•
Moving the printer

new Toner Cartridge. Use only NEC SuperScript 1400
Series Toner Cartridges in this printer. Other cartridges will
not work!
Print a Fuser Cleaning page by pressing down and
holding both buttons on the Operator Panel. Do this...

Once a month

If the backs of printouts show toner marks

RECAUTIONS
Please take the following precautions when performing
maintenance tasks
•
Do not work inside the Top or Back Covers of the printer
until it has cooled.
•
Do not use ammonia-based cleaners. They may react
with the toner in the cartridge.
•
Do not use alcohol-based cleaners on the printer exterior.
They may damage the plastic case.
•
Do not expose the Toner Cartridge to direct sunlight or
bright room light.
•
Do not spill any liquid inside the printer or in the power
cord connector.
•
Turn off and unplug the printer while working inside the
covers.
•
Follow all directions carefully. Save this user's guide for
future reference.
•
Do not attempt to service the printer yourself since
opening some internal parts may expose you to high
voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing not
explained in this user's guide to qualified technicians.

AINTENANCE
It is recommended that you print a Fuser Cleaning page
every month. Also do this if toner marks appear on the backs
of your printouts.
Press and hold down the Go/Continue and Cancel buttons
simultaneously. All four lights will blink and the Fuser
Cleaning page will print.
