SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

to meetstrictquality and
safetystandards. Thereare, however, s omeinstallation a ndoperation
precautions which youshould beparticularly aware of.
1.
ReadInstructions - Allthesafety andoperating i nstructions should
bereadbefore theappliance i soperated.
2.
RetainInstructions - Thesafety andoperating i nstructions should
beretained f orfuturereference.
3.
HeedWarnings - Allwarnings o ntheappliance a ndin theoperating
instructions should beadhered t o.
4.
FollowInstructions - Alloperating anduseinstructions shouldbe
followed.
5.
WaterandMoisture - Theappliance s hould notbeusednear water
- for example, neara bathtub, w ashbowl, kitchen sink,laundry tub,
ina wetbasement or neara swimming p ool,etc.

Carts andStands - Theappliance s hould beused onlywitha cartor
standthatisrecommended bythemanufacturer.

Wall or Ceiling Mounting - Theappliance s hould be mounted to a
wallor ceiling onlyas recommended bythemanufacturer.
8.
Ventilation - Theappliance s hould besituated sothatitslocation or
position does not interfere with itsproper v entilation. Forexample,
theappliance s hould not besituated ona bed,sofa,rug, or similar
surface that may blockthe ventilation openings; or, placed in a
built-in installation, suchas a bookcase or cabinet thatmayimpede
theflowof airthrough theventilation o penings.
9.
Heat- The appliance shouldbesituated awayfrom heatsources
such as radiators,heat registers,stoves,or other appliances
(including a mplifiers) thatproduceheat.
10. Power Sources - The appliance should be connected t o a power
supply onlyofthetype described i ntheoperating i nstructions or as
marked on theappliance.
11. Power-Cord Protection- Powersupply cordsshould be routed so
thattheyarenot likely to bewalked on or pinched byitemsplaced
uponor againstthem, paying particular attention to cordsand
plugs,convenience receptacles, andthepoint wheretheyexitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning - The appliance s hould becleaned onlyas recommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoor antennashould be located awayfrom
powerlines.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If anoutside antenna i s connected to
the receiver, b e surethe antennasystemis grounded so as to
provide someprotection a gainst v oltage surges andbuiltup static
charges.
Section 810 oftheNational Electric C ode, A NSI/NFPA No.70-1984,
provides i nformation w ithrespect to proper grounding o f the mats
and supportingstructuregroundingof the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge u nit,sizeof grounding connectors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes and
requirements
for thegrounding electrode. SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercordof the appliance shouldbe
unplugged f rom the outletwhenleft unused for a longperiodof
time.
16. Object andLiquidEntry- Careshould betaken sothatobjects do
not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service- Theappliance s hould be serviced by
qualified s ervice personnel when:
A. Thepower supply cordor theplughasbeen damaged; or
B. Objects havefallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance; or
C. Theappliance h asbeen exposed t o rain;or
D. Theappliance d oesnotappear to operate normally or exhibits
a marked change in performance; or
E.
Theappliance hasbeen dropped, or theenclosure damaged.
18. Servicing - The usershouldnotattempt to service the appliance
beyondthat describedin the operatinginstructions. A ll other
servicing s hould bereferred toqualified s ervice personnel.
Notetothe CAWsystem installer:Thisreminder isprovided to callthe
CAW systeminstaller's attention to Article820-40 of the NEC that
provides g uidelines for proper g rounding a nd,in particular, specifies t hat
the cableground shallbe connected to the grounding systemof the
building, asclose tothepoint ofcable entry as practical.
