This appendix provides the power and heat numbers for the Catalyst 6500 series chassis and modules.

Unless otherwise noted, the information in the following tables is measured under fully loaded
conditions (transceivers installed). Typical numbers are approximately 20 percent below the numbers
listed in these tables.
Module power is the output from the power supply (internal to the system). The AC-input power is the

  • Page 4 Appendix D Chassis and Module Power and Heat Values The module power values are based on 42 VDC. Power is distributed to each slot in the chassis from the power supply’s 42 VDC output. Each module has DC-to-DC power supplies that convert the 42 VDC into +2.5 VDC, +3.3 VDC, and +5 VDC to power the module.
