SAFETY SUMMARY
WARNING Indications (Continued)
Injury due to Xenon Lamp Explosion
[During use]
When the cumulative turn-on time of the xenon lamp reaches the limit for use,
vapor and dispersed particles from the electrodes will adhere to the lamp wall
and darken it, causing a decrease in heat dissipation.
The internal temperature (pressure) of the lamp will thus increase abnormally,
and there is a danger of the lamp exploding. The lamp should thus be
replaced with a new one before its cumulative turn-on time exceeds the
useful limit.
Part No.
650-1500
250-1600
[At replacement]
 (1) If the xenon lamp is turned on with dust or fingerprints left on the
surface of the quartz glass part, it may cause contamination burn-in
to decrease the mechanical strength of the glass part, resulting in
explosion of the lamp.
(2) If a strong shock or impact is applied to the xenon lamp or if the
surface of its quartz glass part is scratched, it may explode and
scatter glass pieces, resulting in personal injury.
(3) High-pressure gas (approx. 1 MPa at room temperature, approx.
4 MPa under operating condition) remains in the xenon lamp even
after use.
(4) Before removing the xenon lamp for replacement, turn off the lamp
(turn off power to the instrument) and then wait for at least one hour
until the lamp becomes sufficiently cool to reduce its internal
pressure to a normal safety level.
