To cancel the gain-up function
Press GAMMA until the ` indicator
disappears.
Notes:
• Some picture noise appears in Gamma
Brightness Compensation mode. The picture
noise increases when the ` indicator is
displayed.
• When the ` indicator is displayed, a
residual image may appear behind a subject
that exhibits a lot of movement.
• Fine brightness adjustment is possible using the
manual exposure function (see page 61).
Edit Search
Available modes: TAPE-CAMERA, DUAL-
CAMERA
The edit search function lets you search,
without switching to TAPE-VCR mode, for the
point on the tape where you wish to start
recording next.

Set the camcorder to TAPE-CAMERA or
DUAL-CAMERA mode (see page 29).

In Recording
Standby mode,
press SRCH
(SEARCH).

Press and hold down
e (forward edit
search) or r
(reverse edit
search).

When you find the point where you want
to begin recording, release the button.

Press SRCH to cancel the Edit Search
function.
Notes:
• The sound is off during search.
• Forward edit search is performed at the same
speed as normal playback, and reverse edit
search at 6.5 times the normal playback speed.
• Some picture noise appears during reverse edit
search.

Quick Return
Available modes: TAPE-CAMERA, DUAL-
CAMERA
When you have been playing back what you
have recorded on the tape, and wish to quickly
return to recording from the end of the last
recorded scene, use the quick return function.

Set the camcorder to TAPE-CAMERA or
DUAL-CAMERA mode (see page 29).

Press the MENU/DISPLAY button until
the menu screen appears.

Select T, then press SET. Select "QK.

Press f or d to select "START", then
press SET.
• "SEARCH" flashes, and the tape begins
fast forwarding or rewinding to the end
of the last recorded scene.

When the tape reaches the end of the last
recorded scene, "FINISHED" is displayed,
and the camcorder enters Recording
Standby mode.

Press the MENU/DISPLAY button to
turn off the menu screen.
Notes:
• To cancel the quick return function, press SET to
select "STOP", then press SET.
• If the cassette has been removed since the last
recording or if no recording has been made
since the cassette was loaded, the quick return
function cannot be used.
