IMPROPER TEMPORARY MANUAL MUTING
• Access to these key switch selectors shall be restricted to authorised and trained people only. Operators must not be able to
use these key switch selectors that shall be kept under lock.
• The authorised people must have a good visibility to the application and permanently check that nobody enters the hazardous
area while the temporary manual muting sequence is in progress.
• A PLC must NOT be able to generate a temporary manual muting sequence.
• Do NOT permanently mute or override the safety output contacts of the FF-SRM200P2 muting module, but allow temporarily
manual muting only when necessary.
• Always use key switch selectors with snap contacts, in order to avoid permanent manual muting.
• Always connect two redundant selector switch contacts, powered with different potential (dc+ and dc-), in order to detect
cross-faults.
• In order to increase safety, a normally closed switch selector contact may be connected to the machine control circuitry,
disabling the machine operation during a temporary manual muting sequence, but no preventing the conveyor from running.
IMPROPER EXTERNAL SAFETY CONTACTOR MONITORING
The proper operation of external safety contactors and FF-SRE extension modules must be monitored using the External
Device Monitoring (EDM) function of the FF-SRM200P2 muting module. The correct operation of the external contactors is so
checked when pushing the start push-button.
• EDM (muting modes): connect one normally closed contact of each contactor (or the normally closed contact of the extension
module) in series into the combined restart loop and External Device Monitoring (EDM) loop S43/S44.
• EDM (mutual exclusion modes): select the modes with EDM (modes 90 and 92) and connect one normally closed contact of
each external safety contactor (or the normally closed contact of the FF-SRE extension module) between EDM terminals
S41/S42. In these modes, the muting module also checks if the normally closed contacts of the external safety relays have
opened max. 250 ms after energising the internal safety relays K1 and K2.
Failure to comply with this instruction could result in death or serious injury.
