Use wire brush, rags, and mineral spirits
to clean leadscrew threads and trunnions
(Figure 29), adjusting platen angle to reveal
hidden areas.

Brush new grease on leadscrew and trun-
nions with a clean wire brush and adjust
platen angle forward and backward a few
times to evenly distribute grease.
7.
Install back cover, left side cover, and pulley
cover.
Checking &
Replacing V-Belt
The V-belt transfers power from the motor to the
sanding belt. If the V-belt does not have the proper
tension or is damaged in any way, the sander will
not operate optimally, and unnecessary wear on
the moving part will occur. Regularly check V-belt
tension and replace it when necessary.
Items Needed
Phillips Head Screwdriver #2 ............................ 1

Replacement V-Belt (#P0936065) ..................... 1
To check and replace V-belt:

DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!

Remove (4) Phillips head screws and flat
washers shown in Figure 30 to remove pul-
ley cover.

Press belt in center to check belt tension.
The belt is correctly tensioned when there
is approximately
" deflection when it is

pushed with moderate pressure, as shown in
Figure 31.

— If drive belt is in good condition and there
is

be replaced. Proceed Step 6.
— If drive belt is cracked, torn, excessively
worn, damaged, or if there is not
deflection, proceed to Step 4.
Have another person open cabinet door and
lift motor enough so you can remove old
V-belt from pulleys.
Place new belt around pulleys, then lower
motor and close cabinet door.
Install pulley cover.
