In conformity with the provisions of European Council Directive 93/42/EEC Article 11 (5) and Annex VII relating to
Class I devices.
Important:
For maximum safety and to derive best performance from the equipment, please read these instructions carefully
before use.
DESCRIPTION
Evac Body Splint
The stretcher is specially shaped to fit the casualty, i.e. it is narrower at the foot end, widening out to its maximum
breadth in the shoulder area and then tapering to form a cone shape around the head. The securing straps hold the
casualty firmly in position and can be cross-connected in a variety of ways to avoid injured areas. A full body harness
and an adjustable foot strap prevent the casualty from slipping during vertical lifting or adverse movement. The two
main shoulder lifting loops are intended for use in vertical rescue operations. There are four carrying handles which
can also be used for fixing lifting straps. Drag loops for the EVAC BODY SPLINT are located at the head and foot ends
of the stretcher. The strap for holding the stretcher in its rolled-up position can also be used as a head restraint when
threaded through the side loops located on the head cone of the stretcher.
GUIDANCE FOR USE
When unrolling the stretcher, ensure that rubbish, clothing and webbing do not become
caught in the frame. Check all buckles and webbing straps to ensure that they are free from damage. Fold and adjust
the straps prior to packing the stretcher into the storage bag so that they are left ready for use. It is advisable to keep
a log showing when the stretcher was used and by whom, signed by a superior. This log can be kept in the bag. Fas-
ten all the straps and adjust them to ensure that the Evac Body Splint is flat before it is rolled up and packed.
TRAINING
The stretcher should be used by trained personnel. The manufacturer can provide appropriate training. Please phone
or fax for more information.
USE
The Evac Body Splint is intended exclusively for use in rescue operations and casualty transfer, under continuous load
conditions.
The Stretcher Spider lifting webbing must be adjusted to prevent
free falls in excess of 0.50m. This webbing must be kept taut.
The Evac Body Splint should not be used in conjunction with the Stretcher Spider for vertical lifts where the apparatus
may swing or be subject to irregular motion.
For example, they are not suitable for use in helicopter lifting operations.
Use of the handles along the sides of the stretcher is recommended to support and guide it when being moved.
The Evac Body Splint must be fully fastened before it is suspended.
