Step-by-Step
The Reasons:
1. The Voice module code is not correct.
Check programming.
2. The command is not being entered from the house side.
Confirm he is entering the code on the house side of the phone by having him try it from a
telephone test set on terminal 3 and 4 of the voice module.
If it still does not work then take all wires off 3 and 4.
Still not working confirm that phone line supervision is set up correctly
3. The 4286 does not have power or data connection to panel.
Check the wiring of the 4286 on the ECP terminals of the panel.
Make sure the harness is plugged into the proper plug on the 4286, and not the plug intended for
the 4500, make sure it is plugged in with yellow towards the center of the board.
Meter for voltage or data at the harness and on the pins when pulled back a little. Take everything
else off the ECP buss and test again to confirm there is not a current overload or address conflict.
4. Tones generated by phone are not long enough or not correct.
Hold the keys down longer or try a different phone or program and try a different code.
5. The Voice Module is not enabled in programming.
Notes:
If you have followed the suggestions above, and you can not find the cause of a 4286 not working
properly, you should also check for ECP address conflicts and excessive current draw.
Both of these can cause unpredictable results. Try removing everything off the keypad terminals
except the 4286 and test again.
