The freezer fan uses four wire connections:
White Wire (DC Common)
The white wire is the DC common wire used
for testing. During repairs, DC polarity must be
observed. Reversing the DC polarity will cause a
shorted motor and/or board.
Red Wire (Supply)
Each motor uses an internal electronic controller
to operate the motor. Supply voltage from the
main control board remains at a constant 13.6
VDC.
Blue Wire (Feedback/RPM)
The blue wire feeds RPM (speed) information
to the main control board, allowing the board
to maintain consistent fan speeds. Loss of
feedback from the blue wire will result in the fan
accelerating to maximum speed. Measure the
fan RPM using the frequency between the blue
and white wires.
FZ Fan Low: 2,143 RPM
FZ Fan Med: 2,400 RPM
FZ Fan High: 6,000 RPM (max)
Yellow Wire (Signal)
The yellow wire is the input wire from the main
control board to control the operating speed.

Diagnosing
Checking from the main board approximate
operating voltages can be read at the J2 connector.
J2 pin 8 (red) - J2 pin 3 (white) = ~12 VDC
J2 pin 5 (yellow) - J2 pin 3 (white) = 4 - 12 VDC
(depending on fan speed)

Condenser Fan

The condenser fan is a permanent magnet 4-pole,
high, medium*, and low*. The speed of the fan is
controlled by the voltage output from the main
control board. Voltage output from the control
board to the fan is 13.6 VDC; however to regulate
the speed of the fan, the main control board uses
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). When operating,
voltage is sent in pulses (much like a duty cycle) as
The main control board selects and regulates fan
speed and varies the length and frequency of the
13.6 VDC pulse. The main control board does not
monitors the speed of the motor.
High: 96.00% PWM: 12 -13 VDC
Med/Low: 34.25% PWM: 4 - 5 VDC
NOTE: Medium and low speeds are the same.
Front
Condenser Fan Removal
1. Raise the top grill to access the machine
compartment.
2. Remove the grill from in front of the compressor.
3. Remove the stainless steel trim, covering the
wiring to the door switches.
4. Remove the door switches and bracket
assembly.
5. Remove the three bolts holding the compressor
compartment.
6. Move the compressor assembly
as far to the right as possible.
NOTE: When moving the compressor, take care
not to kink or break refrigerant lines.
