Problems with the performance and read/write
For SCSI: Check that the streamer is connected to the correct SCSI port of the SCSI bus
adapter (add-on card or onboard). The streamer should only be connected to the appropriate
port (LVD or LVD/SE) with the correct speed (Ultra2, Ultra160 or Ultra320)!
For USB: Check that the streamer is connected to the correct USB port of the bus adapter
(add-on card or onboard). The streamer should only be connected to the USB 2.0 port.
For USB: Check whether to the USB bus of the USB bus adapter (add-on card or onboard), to
which the streamer is connected, USB 1.1 devices are connected to. The streamer is only
allowed to operate together with USB 2.0 devices on the same USB bus.
Check the cartridge block size setting of the streamer. For good performance, the cartridge
block size should be set at least to 32 kB (standard setting of most backup applications). For
optimum performance, set 64 kB. Please consult the documentation/help of your backup
application to determine the setting and how to change it.
Check whether the streamer must be cleaned. To determine this status, check the streamer's
indicator for cleaning.
Check that the bus adapter has been configured to ensure that it performs at its maximum
performance. For example, check the Windows registry settings for SCSI and SAS block sizes
- MaximumSGList setting - for SCSI bus adapter Adaptec 29160 and Fujitsu Siemens D1305.
