For Microsoft Windows based operating systems, you can find the tape driver hplto.sys on the
locations described under "Actual drivers, firmware and tools can be found on: "
Only install the appropriate driver required by your backup application (see the table
!
above).
If Microsoft Windows NTBackup is not used, it is often required to disable "Removable
!
Storage Manager (RSM)". Please consult the manual/help of your backup application.

LINUX

For LINUX based operating systems (Suse, RedHat), it is not required to install a tape driver. The
tape drive can be accessed by using device handles.
type dmesg at the terminal console
scroll through the messages to verify that the tape drive has been detected by the SCSI
controller.
You can access the tape drive over the handles /dev/st? or /dev/sfn? (? has to be replaced
with the logical number of tape drive, like 0, 1, 2,...) with the commands mt , tar , cpio and dd.
Type man comand at the console to get detailed information.

SOLARIS

For SOLARIS, it is required to add an entry in the st.conf file.
The description of the required entry is defined in a solaris.txt file, which can be found on the
same locations as the tape driver.

Firmware flash

A firmware flash can be done under Widows and Linux by using L&TT (Library and tape tools).
The flash tool can be found on the same locations as the tape drivers.
For huge FW updates on the several systems, a firmware code load tape can be generated with
L&TT. This is a cartridge which makes an automatical firmware flash when inserted into the
streamer. The cartridge can be deleted again with L&TT to be used in the usual way.
Please consult the documentation that comes with the flash tool.
