Example 2#: Manually Add a Host Name and an IP Address

The following example shows commands to add a static host name entry to the switch so that you
can use this entry to resolve the IP address.
The example is shown as CLI commands and as a Web interface procedure.

CLI Commands

To use the CLI to manually add a host name and an IP address, enter the following CLI
commands:
(Netgear Switch)#config
(Netgear Switch) (Config)#ip host www.netgear.com 206.82.202.46
(Netgear Switch) (Config)#ip domain-lookup
(Netgear Switch) (Config)#ping www.netgear.com
Send count=3, Receive count=3 from 206.82.202.46

Web Interface Procedure

To use the Web interface to manually add a host name and an IP address, proceed as follows:
1. From the main menu, select System > Management > DNS > Host Configuration. A screen
similar to the following displays.
