Chapter 6
10. Put the board's I/O bracket in place on the rear panel of the server (See
Figure 6-5). Line the screw hole on the bracket up with the matching hole
on the server, but do not screw it in.
11. Replace the Hot Plug board bracket. It fits over bracket. The captive
screw in the Hot Plug board bracket must line up with the screw hole in
the board's I/O bracket and the matching hole on the server (Figure 6-5).
NOTE
If you do not replace the Hot Plug bracket, you cannot power
up the slot again.
12. Fasten both brackets in place with the captive screw.
CAUTION
The lower end of the Hot Plug board bracket should press
firmly against a switch on the I/O baseboard. This switch
controls power to the slot in question. If the bracket does not
press firmly on the switch, power may not be available in
this slot when the server boots.
13. Use your NOS to power up the slot. The power LED next to the slot
should glow green again.
If you are using the PCI Hot Plug interface (Windows 4.0 NT only):
a. Again select the slot by clicking on it with your left mouse button (See
Figure 6-6).
b. Click on the selected slot with your right mouse button. The pop-up
menu reappears. Again, click on the selection "Power." The software
prompts you to confirm your choice. Do so.
c. Wait 15 seconds. In the interface window, the Power LED for this slot
lights green again. Now look at the physical LEDs for this slot on the
I/O baseboard. The Power LED there should also shine green now.
14. Replace the PCI hot-plug access panel. See Chapter 3 for details.
