• Identifying the version of the source material
If an Instance Number is generated using the GEN method, version of
the material source is easily identified.

Notes
• To use the UMID, the line number to which the recorded UMID is
output should be set.
For detailed information on how to confirm and set the line number, see "1-3-2
Confirming/Setting the Line Number" on page 1-10.
• The studio devices also must support the UMID function. If the clock
is set correctly, the wrong UTC is recorded. If you cannot prepare
devices which can handle the UMID for the time being, leave the line
number at 00, the factory setting.
