H4 (Test) - Xmt
Displays the value being sent in the Path Overhead‟s H4 byte.
The first hexadecimal digit (the upper nibble) is used to carry a specific
user-selectable test pattern, which allows for verifying end-to-end STS-
1 SPE path integrity. Possible selections are hexadecimal '0', „1‟, „2‟,
„3‟, „4‟, „5‟, „6‟, „7‟, „8‟, „9‟, „A‟, „B‟, „C‟, „D‟ and „E‟. Click on the Xmt
button repetitively until the desired test pattern is selected. Note that
the selection applies to all STS-1 SPEs used by the port. Use of this
feature does not affect traffic.
The second hexadecimal digit (the lower nibble) is unused and set to
„F‟ (all ones).
Note: ETHER-100 unit uses the lower nibble for carrying the CBW
port‟s SPE slot# used for this STS-1 SPE at the source, which may
range from 1 to 6.
Note: This field is blanked out if the Line port is disabled for the
selected TDM pipe or the STS-1 SPE does not belong to the selected
TDM pipe. A „-„ is displayed if the STS-1 SPE is available but not
assigned to any TDM pipe.
Near-End Errors
The current bit error rate and cumulative count of errors detected in the
received STS-1 SPE signal.
"Clear CV Counts" button resets the internal counters to zero for both
Line ports.
Note: This field is blanked out if the Line port is disabled for the
selected TDM pipe or the STS-1 SPE does not belong to the selected
TDM pipe. A „-„ is displayed if the STS-1 SPE is available but not
assigned to any TDM pipe.
Far-End Errors

transmit STS-1 SPE signal as received at the far end.
