Press the EXEC button.
The quality control pattern is printed. When printing
is completed, the printing density obtained by
automatically measuring the printing density check
chart is displayed on the LCD of the printer. Use this
density list for the density basis settings (page 52) and
the printing density check (page 53).
Configuration of Quality Control
Pattern
The quality control pattern consists of the following four
areas.
A
Implementation Date and Time Input Field
Enter the date and time the evaluation was performed.
B
Spatial Resolution and Extremely Low/High
Gradient Check Area
This allows you to check the spatial resolution with
white squares on a dark background and black squares
on a light background. The outer boundary of the
background of the squares is printed in two levels of
density to allow you to check the reproducibility of
extremely low and high gradients.

C
Printing Density Check Area
The following five types of density steps are
displayed.
Step 1: Maximum density (Dmax)
Step 2: High density (HD)
Step 3: Medium density (MD)
Step 4: Low density (LD)
Step 5: Minimum density (Dmin)
There is a field for entering the density of each step,
and a field for entering the difference density (DD)
value obtained by subtracting the density of step 4
from that of step 2. In this area, enter each of the
density values displayed on the LCD of the printer
after you print the quality control pattern.
Note
The density values displayed on the LCD of the
printer may differ from values obtained from
commercially available density meters. When
checking the printing density, use the density values
displayed on the LCD of the printer.
D
Aspect Check Area
Check for distortion in the print results.

Evaluation Procedure

A
Basis Density Settings
B
Check Frequency
Each time new film is loaded.
Setting Procedure
1.
Perform automatic calibration of the printing density
as described in "Calibrating the Printing Density"
C
(page 32).
2.
Print two copies of the quality control pattern
(page 51). For each copy printed, enter the
measurement values for density steps 1 to 5 (density
D
values displayed on the LCD immediately after
printing the quality control pattern), and the value for
step 2 - step 4 (value obtained by subtracting density
step 4 from density step 2).
