4 Diagnostics

4.1 Action Log

Application
The Action log function can be used to log operating sequences. By default, if the
action log is enabled, the data that can be logged are recorded. The action log
setting is password-protected.
The following functions are available:
• Logging of alarms
• Output of log file via USB
• The action log is password-protected.
• It can be enabled and disabled via
− MD 9012 ACTION_LOG_MODE
− "Action log settings" screen form in the Startup operating area.
The following events can be logged:
Variable services
PI services
Domain services
Alarm status
Channel
status/override
Action log settings
In the "Action log settings" screen in the Startup operating area, "HMI -> System
settings" menu, you can specify which actions of the control are to be logged:
Logging on/off
Logged data:
− Alarm status change
− Channel status/override
− Data writing
− File accesses
− Instructions

All variables that are written via an input field (e.g., write
accesses to geometry data such as tool compensation and
work offsets) can be logged. A description of the variables
can be obtained via the Help function in the Parameters
operating area under Variable Views.
All PI services (e.g. program selection, file deletion, tool
deletion) can be logged. A description of the variables can be
obtained via the Help function in the Parameters operating
area under Variable Views.
All domain services (e.g. load/unload program) can be
logged.
All NC/PLC and HMI alarms and messages that are displayed
can be logged.
NC/PLC statuses can be logged using information about the
channel status and the position of the override switch. If this
information can be obtained in a timely manner, in many
cases these states can be used to verify the operation of the
MCP.
