SINAMICS S120 High Frequency Drive components

System components
● Line-side power components such as fuses and contactors to switch the energy supply
● Line filter to comply with EMC regulations
● DC link components (Braking Module, Control Supply Module) used optionally for
stabilizing the DC link voltage
● Additional system components and encoder system connections to expand the
functionality and to handle various interfaces for encoders and process signals.
Components for High Frequency Drives
● HF Motor Module that operates as an inverter and provides the power supply for the
connected motor.
● HF Sine Filter Module consisting of
– HF Choke Module and
– HF Damping Module.
● Voltage Protection Module to protect the DC link against high motor voltages (optional).
Additional SINAMICS components are required to provide the required functions:
● Control Unit for processing drive and technology functions.
● Active Line Module that has the function of centrally supplying the power to the DC link.
● Braking Module (optional)
● Control Supply Module (optional)
The SINAMICS S120 High Frequency Drive is exclusively intended for installation in a
control cabinet.
Cooling methods
The SINAMICS S120 High Frequency Motor Module is available with liquid cooling.
The HF Sine Filter Module, comprising the HF Choke Module and the HF Damping Module,
is available with the "Cold Plate" cooling type with additional internal fans.
