Common Settings
2.1.5

Registering the SAS Addresses of the Accessing SAS Cards (Setting SAS Host)

Register the SAS addresses of the SAS cards installed in each server that will access the ETERNUS DX. At the
same time, set the host response registered in
SAS hosts (SAS addresses).
Registering the SAS hosts (SAS addresses) and setting up Host Affinities as described elsewhere, allows limits
to be set on which servers are allowed to access which ETERNUS DX storage systems.
When a server-side SAS card is replaced, the SAS address of the replacement SAS card must be re-regis-
tered to the ETERNUS DX.
1
Connect the SAS card that is installed in the server to the ETERNUS DX with the SAS cable.
2
Turn on the ETERNUS DX.
3
Turn on the server, and start the OS.
4
Acquire the SAS address of HBA from each port in the [SAS Host] screen of ETERNUS Web GUI.
5
Register the Host Response in which the acquired SAS address is registered to the ETERNUS DX.
2.1.6

Allocating LUN Groups (Setting the Host Affinity)

Allocate the relationship between registered SAS hosts (SAS addresses), CA port groups, and LUN groups us-
ing the Host Affinity setting function to specify which LUNs to be accessed. This sets access restrictions to the
ETERNUS DX from each server.
Refer to "Connectivity (Basic Information)" in "ETERNUS Web GUI User's Guide" for details, and set the LUN
groups.
If the one-to-one relationship between the SAS addresses and SAS cards cannot be determined, the Host
Affinity may not be set correctly.
In this case, trying various settings may be necessary until the server is able to recognize the ETERNUS DX
logical disks.
