Push theoil drainhose(packed withthismanual) o ntothe oildrainport.Route
theopposite endofthe hose into anappropriate oil collection container w ithat
leasta2.0quartcapacity, to collect t he used oil.
Turntheoil drainvalve1/4-turn, t henpulloutwardto begindrainingoil.After
theoil hasfinisheddraining, p ushthe endofthe oildrainvalve back inandturn
1/4-turnto secure it backinplace. R e-cap t he endoftheo[Idrainvalve to keep
debris from entering thedrainport.
Afterthe oil has finisheddraining, p ushtheendof theoil drainvalve back
in,untilthe tabsclickintoplace. R e-cap t he endofthe oildrainvalve to keep
debris fromentering thedrainportandfill the engine asinstructed inthe
engineowner'smanual. S ee engineowner'smanual i ncluded with this
tractorfor oil capacity.
TireMaintenance
Check the tire airpressure after every50 hoursofoperationor weekly.Keep the
tiresinflatedto the recommended p ressures. Improper i nflationwill shorten the
tire service life.Seethe tire sidewall forproperinflationpressures. Observe the
followingguidelines:
Donot inflateatire above the maximum pressure shownon the sidewall o f
the tire.
Donot reinflateatire that hasbeenrunflat or seriously underinflated.Have
aqualifiedtire mechanic i nspectandservice the tire.
Lubrication
Usingapressure lubricatinggun,lubricate the front castor wheelaxles and
the front pivotaxlewith No.2multipurpose lithium grease after every10
hoursof service.
Periodically lubricate allotherpivotpoints; i .e.the seatpivotbracket, i dlerpivot
bracket on thedeck,deck lift shaftassembly, etc.with aqualitylubricating oil.
GeneralBattery Information
Shouldbattery acidaccidentallysplatter intothe eyesor onto the skin,
rinsethe affected areaimmediately with clean coldwater. If there is
any further discomfort, seekprompt medicalattention. If acidspills on
clothing, first dilute it with cleanwater, then neutralizewith asolution of
ammonia/water or bakingsoda/water.
NEVER connect ( or disconnect)battery charger c lipsto the battery while
the charger isturned on, as it cancausesparks.Keepall sourcesof ignition
(cigarettes,matches,lighters)awayfrom the battery. Thegasgenerated
during chargingcan becombustible.Asafurther precaution,only charge
the battery in awell ventilated area.Alwaysshieldeyesand protect skin
and clothingwhen working nearbatteries.
Batteriescontain sulfuric acidandmay emit explosivegases.Use extreme
caution when handling batteries. Keepbatteries out of the reachof
children.
Battery Maintenance
The battery isfilled withbattery a cid and then sealed a tthefactory. However, even a
"maintenance
free"battery r equires some maintenance
toensure i tsproper lifecycle.
Spray t heterminals and exposed wirewithabattery terminal sealer, orcoat
theterminals withathincoat o fgrease o rpetroleum j elly,toprotect against
corrosion.
Alwayskeepthe batterycables andterminalscleanandfreeof corrosion.
Avoidtipping. Even a sealed batterywill leakelectrolytewhentipped.
Battery Removal
Battery posts,terminals andrelated accessories c ontain lead andlead
compounds. W ashhandsafter handling.
Thebatteryislocatedbeneath the seatframe.Toremove the battery:
1.
Remove t he hexwasherscrew securing the batteryhold-downbracket t o
the frame.Thenflip the batteryhold-downbracket u p to freethe battery.

Remove t he hexcapscrew andseres n ut securing theblacknegative batterylead
to the negative batterypost(marked NEG). Movethecableaway fromthe negative
batterypost,

Remove t he hexcapscrew andsems nut securing the redpositivebattery
leadto the positivebatterypost(markedPOS).
3.
Carefully lift the batteryout of the tractor.
4.
Installthe batterybyrepeating the above stepsinthe reverse order.
Alwaysconnectthe positive leadto the battery beforeconnectingthe
negativelead.Thiswill preventsparkingor possibleinjuryfrom an
electricalshort causedby contactingthe ridingmower bodywith tools
being usedto connectthe cables.
