Creating Message Groups

52 — W
ORKING WITH
Message groups provide a convenient way to deliver the same message to several subscribers at
the same time. When you send a message to a message group, it is automatically sent to all
subscribers who are members of that group.
You can create as many message groups as you need and customize membership in each of the
groups.
There are three types of groups: public, private, and local.
Public Groups. Other subscribers can send messages to a public group.
Private Groups. Only the owner of a private group can send messages to the group.
Local Groups. This message group type is only available if your installation has been
licensed for Networking. Members of a Local group can include both subscribers of the
local system and remote subscribers added to the local system. Local subscribers, with the
appropriate access options set by the system administrator, can send messages to either
the Local or Open group types. Remote subscribers cannot send messages to a Local group.
They can, however, send messages to an Open group.
You can use a phone or Mailbox Manager to create groups.
