Stopping TheEngine
Run enginefor afew minutes beforestoppingto helpdry offany moisture on the
engine.
1.
Movethrottle control t o STOP _ -_
position.
2.
Remove t he key.Removing the keywill reduce the possibility of
unauthorized startingof the enginewhileequipmentis not inuse.Keep the
keyin asafeplace. T heenginecannotstart withoutthe key.
3.
Wipeanymoisture awayfrom the controls on the engine..
ToStopTheSnowThrower
1.
Tostopthe wheels,release the drivecontrol.
2.
Tostopthrowingsnow,release the augercontrol.
3.
Tostopengine,movethrottlecontrolleverto OFF _
andpullout the key.
Donot turn key.

Thetemperature of muffler andthe surrounding a reasmayexceed150 F.
Avoidthese areas.

CAUTION: Check t he areato becleared for foreignobjects. R emove f oreignobjects,
if any.

Startthe enginefollowingstartinginstructions.
2.
Allowthe engineto warmupfora fewminutesasthe enginewill not
develop full poweruntil it reaches o peratingtemperature.
3.
Rotatethe chuteassembly t o the desired direction, a wayfrom bystanders
and/orbuildings.
4.
Makingcertainnobystanders or obstacles a reinfront of the unit, squeeze
the augercontrolcompletely against t he upperhandletofully engage the
auger.
5.
Whilethe augercontrol i sengaged, s queeze the drivecontrol c ompletely
against t he upperhandleto engage the wheels.Donot "feather"the drive
control.
6.
Asthe snowthrowerstartsto move,maintainafirm holdonthe handle, a nd
guidethe snowthroweralongthe pathto becleared.
7.
Release t he augeranddrivecontrols to stopthe snowthrowingactionand
forwardmotion.
8.
NOTE:Your unit isequipped with a clutchinthe transmission. Ifthe wheels
stopturningwhiletrying to discharge l argevolumes of snow,immediately
disengage t he drivecontrolandallowthe rotatingaugerto discharge s now
fromthe housing. R educe theclearingwidth andcontinueoperation.
Oneachsucceeding p ass, r eadjust t he chuteassembly t o the desiredposition
andslightlyoverlapthe previously clearedpath.
PositioningDischargeChute
Loosen the chuteknobandpivotupperchuteto desired position.Tighten the chute
knobmakingsurethecarriageboltiscorrectlypositioned. R aising t he chutethrows
snowfurther.
Donot lift the snowthrower at any time bythe chutehandle.
Operating
Tips
1.
For m ostefficient s now removal, remove s now immediately a fterit falls.
2.
Discharge s nowdownwindwhenever p ossible. S lightlyoverlap eachprevious
path.
3.
Setthe skidshoes 1/4"belowthe shave platefor normalusage. T heskid
shoes maybeadjustedupwardfor hard-packed s now.
NOTE: It is not recommended t hat youoperatethissnowthroweron gravel
asloose gravelcanbeeasilypickedupandthrown bythe augercausing
personal injuryand/ordamage to the snowthrower.
4.
Ifyouchoose to operatethesnowthrowerongravel,keepthe skidshoein
the lowestpositionfor maximum clearance b etweenthegroundandthe
shaveplate.
5.
Clean the snowthrowerthoroughlyafter eachuse.
ReplacingShearPins
Theaugerissecured tothe spiralshaftwith two shear p insandbow-tieclips.If
the augershouldstrikeaforeignobjector icejam, the snowthroweris designed
sothatthe shear p insmayshear. I faugerwill not turn,checkto seeif the pinshave
sheared. S ee Figure10.
NEVER replace the augershearpinswith anything otherthan OEMPartNo.

Anydamageto the snowthrower asaresultoffailing to do sowill NOT be
coveredbyyour snowthrower's warranty.
Alwaysturn off the snowthrower's engineand removethe key priorto
replacing shearpins.
