Power won't turn on, panel LEDs or
LCD won't light
Sound is not input
Sound is not output
Sound is not output from
headphones or MONITOR OUT jacks
Insufficient volume
Sound is distorted
Sound is output even though not

Only a specific channel is heard from

❍ Are the LCD contrast and panel brightness set appropriately?
❍ Is the POWER switch turned on?
❍ If the power still does not turn on, contact a Yamaha service center listed at the
end of the manual.
❍ Is the optional I/O card inserted correctly? (see page 18)
❍ Is the signal from the external device being input?
❍ Is the input port patched to an input channel? (see page 29)
❍ Is the GAIN set to an appropriate level? (see page 32)
❍ Is the EQ attenuator raised? (see page 35)
❍ Is an insert turned on even though it is not assigned correctly?
❍ Is the input channel's [ON] key indicator lit?
❍ Is the input channel's fader raised?

❍ Is the output channel patched to an output port? (see page 31)
❍ Is the [PHONES] knob or [LEVEL] knob set to an appropriate volume?

❍ Could the EQ gain be lowered excessively? (see page 35)
❍ Could the GATE/COMP threshold or ratio be set to an excessive value? (see

❍ Is the oscillator turned on? (see page 45)
❍ Could emphasis be applied? This will occur if the state of the input signal does
not match the emphasis data.
❍ Could EQ be applied? (see page 35)
❍ Could DIMMER be applied?
❍ Is the routing appropriate for the signal you want to monitor?
❍ Use the EQ's attenuator to reduce the level. (see page 35)
❍ Check whether the delay of each channel is set correctly.
❍ Could you be attempting to save a read-only scene/library memory, or a pro-
tected scene? (see page 42)
❍ Is the MIDI PORT selected correctly?
❍ Are the MODE and channel selected correctly on the transmitting and receiving
devices?
❍ Have you assigned an event to the program change?
❍ Could recall safe be specified for those channels/parameters?
❍ Could a fade time have been specified?
