PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFETY

Carefully take the following precautions for safety in using the
magnetrons for microwave ovens or for other applications.
Magnetrons must be handled by individuals possessing adequate
backgrounds of electrical, electronic, microwave and mechanical
experience. Toshiba Hokuto Electronics Corporation (here after THD)
cannot be responsible for the interpretation of this information, nor can it
be assumed any liability in connection with its use.
1. Precautions for use, handling and storage
(1) Magnetron is generally supplied large electric power, so inevitably,
the voltage applied to each electrode also large and the
temperature of the electrodes also rises.
(2) Magnetron is difficult to judge the mechanical strength from the
appearance, so it is necessary to know the correct operation of
magnetron so as not to cause damage and etc. of magnetron, and
at the same time, give satisfactory consideration to the handling of
magnetron.
(3) Ensuring worker safety is the responsibility of the equipment
designer and the people involved in the work.
(4) To maintain product characteristics and safety, do not make any
alter to magnetron.
(5) Use magnetron under conditions that do not exceed the maximum
rating in the specifications. If magnetron is used beyond the
maximum rating, it may affect the deterioration and life of
magnetron, and magnetron may break down in a short time. No
warranty is given if magnetron is used beyond its maximum rating.
note) Information in this document is subject to change without notice.
2. Use and Purpose
(1) This product is limited to microwave equipment, and not purpose
to sell or use for general consumers. And, magnetron is not
purpose sell or use for general consumers.
(2) Do not use this product for the purpose of developing weapons of
mass destruction, military use, or other military purposes.
(3) This product is not designed, intended, or permitted for use in
equipment whose failure or malfunction may directly threaten
human life or cause harm to the human body.
(4) When using this product, please refer to the contents of this
material and be careful about safety.
(5) When exporting this product, please comply with the export-
related laws and regulations applicable in the countries of import
and export, and follow the necessary procedures as stipulated by
them.
3. High voltage
Since the magnetron is operated with negative high potential at the
cathode terminals, a special care must be taken as follows.
(1) Do not touch nor come close to the cathode terminals or their
surroundings during operation.
(2) To avoid shock hazards. never insert metallic wire or like into the
filter box, and never operate the magnetron with the lid of filter
box open.
(3) Before removing the magnetron from the oven, carefully check that
power is turned off. And discharge the cathode terminal or the
discharging rod adequately designed for safety.
4. Radiation X-ray
High voltage microwave tubes emit a significant intensity of X-rays
when the operation voltage exceeds about 10kV. The X-rays
constitute a health hazard unless adequate shielding is provided.
This is a characteristic of all microwave tubes and the X-rays strength
emitted corresponds to the anode voltage applied.
