Structure of the infrared beam
The infrared beam emitted by the transmitter to the reflector is not a strictly parallel bundle of rays.
It exhibits a certain degree of scattering which makes it conical in shape. The radiation energy de-
creases as you move towards the outside edges of the beam and can be divided into the three regions:
• effective
• core
• scattered
The reflector retransmits the received light.
