You'll need to set the echo sounder display options on the 961/
962 or 957/958's ECHO SOUNDER SETUP screen. Press the
STAR key to display this screen and set these options. For
details, see the Northstar 490 Echo Sounder Operations Manual
(GM490).
To turn off the 490, turn off the 961/962 or 957/958 by pressing
and holding PWR until the screen goes dark. The 490 will turn
off automatically.
CAUTION!
If the vessel is out of the water when the echo
sounder is turned on, the transducer may be
damaged. Perform all tests on the with the vessel in
the water.

Make sure the vessel is in the water.
2.
To test the system after installation, turn on the 961, 962,
or 957/958 and confirm that power is on with no errors. If
echo sounder data isn't moving across the ECHO screen
from right to left, see "Troubleshooting common 490
installation problems" on page 23.
