N O T E :
For D U A L operation be sure to select the T R I G M O D E
s w i t c h to A U T O to allow s w e e p of both A and B to be per-
formed.
W h e n A and B s w e e p s are to be used alternately, set up
the scope to provide both s w e e p s .

X-Y OPERATION
Phase difference measurements may be made by use of
the X - Y display mode.
Procedure:
Select the HORIZ D I S P L A Y s w i t c h to the X - Y mode.
this mode the channel 1 input becomes the Y - a x i s input
and the channel 2 input the X - a x i s input for X - Y display.
For X - Y operation the X and Y positions are adjusted using
the channel 2 ^ P O S I T I O N , X - Y
TION controls respectively.
X and Y sensitivity are set by using the channel 2 and
channel 1 V A R I A B L E , V O L T S / D I V controls respectively.
By pulling out the t w o above mentioned V A R I A B L E c o n -
trols, the sensitivities of both the X and Y axis are magni-
fied by 5 times. A I N T E N S I T Y control is used to adjust the
intensity of the display during X - Y operation.

[7] SINGLE SWEEP OPERATION

T h i s
mode of display
is useful for looking
synchronous or one time events.
Procedure:
1. S e l e c t the T R I G M O D E to either A U T O or NORM, and
the S L O P E P U L L F I X control to pushed-in position.
Apply a signal of approximately the s a m e amplitude
and frequency as the signal that is to be observed as
the trigger signal and set the trigger L E V E L .
2. S e l e c t T R I G M O D E to S I N G L E and press the R E S E T
button - observe that the red L E D lights to indicate the
reset condition.
T h i s L E D goes out w h e n the
s w e e p period is completed.
3. After the above set-up is completed the scope is ready
to operate in the S I N G L E s w e e p mode of operation
after resetting the scope using the R E S E T button. Input
of the trigger signal results in one and only one sweep.
N O T E .
W i t h the HORIZ D I S P L A Y select to A L T or DUAL, the
simultaneous observation of the A s w e e p and B s w e e p
w a v e f o r m s at S I N G L E s w e e p mode is not possible.
A l s o for D U A L or Q U A D operation simultaneous obser-
vation is not possible using A L T mode. S e t the scope
to the CHOP mode in this case.

[8] DUAL AND QUAD TRACE OPERATION

By setting the vertical M O D E to D U A L or Q U A D , Dual and
Quad trace operations can be achieved. Additionally s e -
lecting the HORIZ D I S P L A Y to A L T produces up to an 8
trace.
Operation of the various controls is for this type of display
mode similar to the operation described above for Alter-
nating s w e e p operation.

[9] CASCADED OPERATION

T h i s mode of operation is used w h e n sensitivity greater
than 1 m V / d i v is required.
Procedure:
1. Connect the CH 1 O U T jack to the channel 2 input jack
using a BNC cable through the 50X2 termination.
2. For c a s c a d e operation do not pull the channel 1 and
channel 2 X 5 GAIN s w i t c h e s toward you.
3. S e l e c t vertical M O D E to CH 2.
4. S e t the channel 1 and channel 2 V O L T S / D I V to 5 m V
and input a signal for a sensitivity of 5 0 0 ^ V / d i v on
channel 1 .
