M.3 Cradle Lock
The exterior cradle lock is only fitted to a Direct Mount Cradle-installed Minitrans as a
necessary step when preparing a transformer for transit. Typically, this occurs in the
following scenarios:
On a mobile transformer (one that is moved from site to site).
On any transformer where a Minitrans is pre-installed prior to shipping.
But can apply to any scenario where there is a requirement to move or relocate a
transformer with a pre-installed Minitrans.
If the transformer and monitoring product (mounted to the transformer using the GE
Direct Mount Cradle) are to be transported together, then it is essential to fit both the
cradle and PGA transit locks. Once relocated and secured at its new location both sets of
locks must be removed prior to resuming the product's power. See Appendix M.2 for
details on the PGA lock.
M.3.1 Inspect the Isolators
Visually inspect all six isolators (Figure M-27) at the following times:
In situ before and after preparation for transit.
In situ before and after relocation / installation at each new site.
Each inspection shall look for the following signs:
Defects on the silicone.
Peeling of silicone from the metal portion.
Corrosion on the metal portion of the isolator.
Corrosion or signs of structural compromise on the metal work / brackets.
